It doesn’t matter whether it’s Careerbuilder.com, Craigslist.org, HotJobs.com, Monster.com or Jobsearch.org, business opportunities are being promoted as “jobs” and often as “telecommuting jobs”.
Recently, I’ve noticed more such deceptive ads for a network marketing company selling online advertising through an ad supported voip system. Their reps are advertising hot and heavy in Craigslist.org and HotJobs.com and probably elsewhere.
Actually I really liked the concept because it seemed like a “real media company”… one that did actual hiring of outside sales reps with a unique and innovative product.
I started sniffing around however and found out that it’s MLM where the reps are paid to recruit. The income opportunity page declares “Earn $350 Personal Weekly Bonus when you sign up other Agency Owners”.
This makes me wonder if these “reps” are really out there selling what seems to be a great product or just trolling for suckers or desperate people down on their luck.
The long term health of this company depends on getting beaucoup advertisers… I hope they are and I wish them well.
But if representatives recruit using deceptive tactics like posing as a “job” in a setting where people are looking to work and not invest, can you really trust these reps as your “upline”?
Just wondering.
