Scenarios For The Next U.S. Recession

April 25, 2006 by Chuck | 0 Comments

It didn’t make the news that day that I recall, but on March 23rd, 2006 the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation who “insures” (rather guarantees) your bank account issued this report online called
“Scenarios for the Next U.S. Recession”

The three main tipping points that could send the U.S. economy spiralling downward are

1. Energy Costs – you already feel it at the gas pump and this relates to item #3.

2. Housing – the real estate bubbles around the nation implode

3. High Debt Rates/Low Savings Rates – i.e. consumers have no margin for error in their budget and are, to coin a phrase, “two paychecks away from bankruptcy”.

It’s worth reading and it may impact your financial and business planning.
