My friend Jim Straw has been advising people to Sell American for many years.
It’s as simple, he claims, as running an ad in the local business papers saying “Wanted: Items for export! Call XXX-XXXX!”
Why?
Because many US manufacturers have no idea how to expand their markets overseas.
So if you do have overseas contacts who want products, this is one way to work from home and have other people do most of the work… you’d serve as a broker.
But what if you want to Sell American and there are no manufacturers of anything nearby?
No problem. Check out the Thomas Register of American Manufacturers online.
These used to be a ponderous and expensive set of books … encyclopedias of sorts you’d only find at big libraries.
So if your international contact wants “Widget X” this register will help you know who either makes it or CAN make it.
You’re paid - if you follow Jim’s instructions on how to Sell American on a commission basis.
The international customer sends you a check, you cash the check and pay the manufacturer.
There are other methods too… but remember Thomas Register when looking for manufacturers.
