U.S. Tax Burden Supposedly Low

MSN Money thinks our tax burden is low.

Believe it or not, Americans enjoy some of the lowest income tax rates in the world. Today of all days, it might not seem so.

“When you look at the overall tax burden, the U.S. is quite low,” said Eric Toder, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., and former director of the office of research for the Internal Revenue Service.

Since we’re quoting former IRS agents, I couldn’t help make the following analogies that would display a similar bias.

“Foxes report that losses from chicken houses in the U.S. are low compared with other countries.”

“Pickpockets report that the amount of cash snatched from wallets in the U.S. are lower than hoped for.”

Just because our government was able to snatch less somebody elses, that’s supposed to make us feel better?
