Google Places Ads On Maps

Google is now selling ads on their maps…

From Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal

When users search Google Local for types of businesses, they’ll see small icons along with the pinpoint showing where a business is located, and the pop-up marked as an advertisement. The Mountain View-based Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) said on its Web site that the new advertising options are the same price as regular Google text ads.

For the time being, local business ads are only available to targeted locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
