I was looking back at some old posts where one of the authors - speaking of her access into the business of buying notes or cashflows - said something worth lots of money to would be entrepreneurs everywhere.
She got into that particular business by buying a “course” like many that populate the business opportunities world.
Big Price (a couple of hundred dollars) and light on content…$250 “way back when” before infomercials conned thousands out of people.
Most you reading this are probably having flashbacks if not panic attacks by now.
You’ve been there and done that more than once.
But think how dumb she must have felt… she’s a CPA for crying out loud.
Most of us chalk up another loss and just quit.
But she was desparate though.
She hated doing taxes though.
Funny she had gotten to be a CPA before figuring that out!
But the overpriced kit “opened the door” to a world where she could make money and her CPA credential lends huge credibility… the note business is about number crunching after all.
Though you may feel like an idiot for spending “too much” in retrospect, ask yourself, is there a new door open?
Despite the info products failures… has it shown you a new industry… a new occupation… a new skill… that despite the information product’s failings still holds promise?
One guy joined a telecom MLM and paid $495 to find out he could have made the same or better income in a totally free opportunity.
Another person bought an overpriced training course in a specialized field to the tune of $3500 only to find he could have made the same progress with a $50 book from Amazon.com
It’s the biz op equivalent of buying something at the grocery store or the convenience store… the convenience store is higher. It’s an opportunity cost for the convenience.
Paying an inflated price for business information that you find later is available for much less… that’s because we didn’t know where the grocery store was for that industry.
But we go on.
At least we know… yes, people CAN DO THIS!
People - like us - can make a living at this.
So we’re really paying not just for the raw info… but for opening a door to a new world.
If we walk through the door and find that new world, often we conclude… “Yes, the price was worth it” because it let me give up something I hated doing.
Next time ask yourself… did I really pay too much or is there a new world opening here that I need to walk through and profit from?
Better yet, look through the information you’ve bought in the last year and ask…did I walk past an open door that would change my life if I just pursued this as a business instead of thinking a genie would appear and make this happen all by itself?
