Never Say Hello In Email I Found

February 17, 2006 by Chuck | 0 Comments

I was running a follow up message through SpamAssassin and learned something important I wanted to pass along.

When getting ready to send a follow up message to my Work At Home HotSheet List.

It was a short message with none of the usual spam triggers but it was registering a 2.3.

That would go through most spam filters, but I always like to do better if possible.

Spam Assassin said that the single thing which was raising the score a full 0.9 points all by itself was because … drum roll… I was starting the subject line with the word “hello”!

Removing the “Hello” and replacing it with “For” sent the Spam Assassin rating down to 1.3.

Remember, to use Spam Assassin…or at least never say “Hello” in your email like that.
