As many of our readers know, I have an email list .
Weekly (mostly!) I get around to send out links to my favorite posts here for the week.
I call it a Work At Home Hotsheet and folks seem to like the recap.
Wanting to build the list and circulation, I was going to buy some single opt leads and send them a “double opt” message.
Then I found my autoresponder service – which is normally useful – to be a complete pain in the neck on this issue.
I found buried within their Terms of Service a ban on any third party generated leads. To me it was vague.
It sounded like a prohibilition on buying cd’s filled with email addresses.
To me, a co-registration listing where people opt in to receive my weekly updates and then I use this autoresponder service to send a second message… To me these are MY leads regardless of the service I used to generate them.
But check your TOS if you’re using such a service.
You don’t want whatever leads you HAVE accumulated lost by being accused of “buying” leads.
