Working at home is sometimes too little work and too much unfocused activity.

From the Globe and Mail:

How much of your time is actually spent working when you bring the office home?

Twenty-five per cent of 2,450 workers polled admitted spending less than one hour on their office work, 53 per cent spend less than three hours and just 14 per cent put in a full eight hours, according to a survey by CareerBuilder.com.

Among factors contributing to the work-from-home productivity gap: Twenty-two per cent of respondents said their children grab most of their attention.

Seventeen per cent said personal calls and surfing the Internet are the primary distractions and 15 per cent admitted to suffering from “couch potato syndrome.” Eleven per cent opted to complete personal errands and 9 per cent to catch up on housework.
