Are You “The New Normal”?

From Aidan’s Blog via Dane Carlson:

My Parents are what I consider to be quiet normal, by normal I would agree with the quote

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

- Ellen Goodman

They were though from an early age to find a secure, pensionable job and most probably in the public sector.

I must say they have always been the best, most supportive and loving parents a son could ever wish for. But they have worked hard and I would like to re-pay them for all their years of hard work. I consider myself not to be normal in the conventional sense, but more of a risk taker (measured risk im not stupid) and would like to give them both the best retirement they can have by making a success of my business at Event Ireland

I ask the question, can you make it comfortably in this life by working for others? Maybe Maybe not, but I feel I can contribute more to society and my salary by working hard at my company and this is also a motivation to work hard. Is it more of a risk working for oneself? The same can be said for this question.
