SEO Optimized Press Releases Generate Strong Traffic For Andrew Cavanaugh

November 10, 2005 by Chuck | 2 Comments

An SEO Optimized press release is like any other “optmized” web page…

The page title, headline, keywords, and content all jibe and the main key word - in this case “Avian Flu” is spread with consistency throughout the copy.

In addition, additional fees were paid to place the press release on some major distribution lists so they’d be picked up by Yahoo, Google, etc…. $200 in this case. (Australia dollars? US dollars? Not sure.)

Here are the results so far…

From David Frey’s forum

Hi,

Since I was asked to give more specific stats the last time I did a press release (before I had a product to sell) I thought I’d give you an update on the second press release.

The press release “How to prevent bird flu” produced 44,218 hits many in the first 24 hours.

Hits to site around 500+ (and still creating a steady stream of traffic).

Sales so far from this press release around $280 most of which is net profit. (The sales page could probably pull at around twice its current rate with a rewrite).

So a good return at $80 since the press release is also converted into a web page of its own for one of my sites, an article for another site and for submission to other sites and forums.

It’s interesting to note that if I had around 50 releases out producing the current traffic this would be a very profitable business indeed.

Why?

Well the press contributed to very high search engine rankings in Google and Yahoo for the search term “How to Prevent Bird Flu”.

I hope you find this helpful information.

Personally I consider these figures pathetic compared to the results I get offline (radio promotion etc.) and even smaller compared to the results I get for my copywriting clients.

But some things you do because it is morally right (check out http://www.howtopreventbirdflu.com )

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh

    Hi,

Actually the cost of the press release was $US80.

I’ve had fairly similar results with online press releases that cost just US$40 though.

I’ve been using online press releases to create high page rankings on the search engines for MANY, many years.

    Long before it became fashionable.

This is probably their most useful function long term - getting your site indexed fast by search engines like Google and getting good one way back-links.

Short term you can make a profit out of the traffic directly from the press release which is valuable.

    Kindest regards,
