Don’t Do This On Ebay!

To spare the hapless further embarassment I will not post a link, but I will mention on one of the forums the other day, a budding netpreneur told this story.

He became an affiliate for a program that supposedly told people how to get an expensive set of golf clubs for next to nothing.

Evidently the affiliate program costs the buyer $150. (In other words he could not sell for less than $150. There’s some debate on this point, but for the most part affiliate products are NOT allowed for sale on the auction site, though some affiliate programs have told their folks it’s ok with them as long as their price is met.)

He ran an auction under the name of the expensive golf clubs and – unintentionally perhaps – people got the impression he was auctioning off a set of the actual golf clubs, not information on how to get them at a reduced price.

He set no reserve on the auction to guarantee his price of $150.

And somebody “won” an auction for about $23!

I learned about this because he was on the forums asking “What do I do now?”

Duh!

I’d say his feedback ratings are going to plummet at best!

Here’s some ebay basics for free I’ve posted at another site…
